Texas Woman Gets Out Of Jury Duty By Showing Up With Loaded Gun

Fort Worth, TX  - Dayna Kay Purtee, a 53-year-old Texas woman has been jailed after she showed up for jury duty with a loaded gun.

According to the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, Purtee had arrived at the county courthouse Tuesday morning to serve as a juror when she quickly ended up on the wrong side of the law.

Investigators say deputies found a loaded .32 caliber handgun among Purtee’s belongings during the screening process at the courthouse’s front entrance. Purtee was immediately placed under arrest.

Authorities did not announce a motive for bringing a handgun to court, however, Purtee’s husband told local reporters that his wife began carrying a handgun several years ago after she was attacked outside a local convenience store.

Purtee was booked into jail and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon in a place where weapons are prohibited.
